Two new dining venues for Brokenwood Wines

Hunter Valley winery is Brokenwood Wines is set to launch a new restaurant and eatery in December helmed by hospitality stalwarts Andrew Wright (head chef) and Janet Wright (front of house).

The husband and wife duo, who ran The Cellar Restaurant in Hunter Valley Gardens for the past 18 years, will oversee The Wood Restaurant and Cru Bar + Pantry, which are being developed alongside a Brokenwood’s new expansive cellar door featuring circular tasting 'pods', a large outdoor terrace, private tasting rooms, private dining rooms and a wine museum.

The 90-seat Wood Restaurant will offer a modern Australian menu using local produce, cooked in the restaurant’s wood-fired oven. A major feature will be a market-style display of fresh seafood delivered from the Sydney Fish Market.

Next door, Cru Bar + Pantry will offer more casual, dining options with the menu focusing on shared plates, cheese and charcuterie, wood-fired pizza made to order, coffee, homemade pies, toasties, sweets, and picnic packs. The cafe will feature an Enomatic self-serve dispenser which will serve a selection of premium and rare wines that would not ordinarily be available for tasting.

“We have an amazing relationship with Iain [Riggs] and the Brokenwood team,” said Andrew Wright.

“The Cellar has been our home for the last 18 years, but we’re ready for a new and exciting adventure and couldn’t think of a better place to do that than at Brokenwood.”

Brokenwood Wines' cellar door is scheduled to open on December 7.
