SA developer signed for Playford hotel development

A South Australian developer has been attached to a $50 million project in Adelaide’s Playford that will include a new 4.5-star hotel offering up to 260 rooms.

Located next to Playford Arena and overlook the adjacent Prince George Plaza, the hotel will feature a rooftop sports bar, fitness centre, swimming pool, function room and at least two restaurants and bars.

Construction is expected to start in January with an opening slated for the end of 2018.

City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said the project was a significant milestone in positioning its CBD as the service point for all northern parts of the State.

“We’ve had a lot of buzz and positive expressions of interest from the market – local, interstate and overseas – and I’m pleased to see we have now signed a South Australian developer to build the new Playford City hotel in the heart of Elizabeth,” he said.

Hotel management brands have not been invited to apply to brand the hotel at this stage.
