QT and The Star see their signature restaurants shine in the Good Food Guide 2018

Hotels across the country have been recognised the newly released Good Food Guide, with some new additions and old favourites added to the mix.

QT Melbourne’s signature restaurant, Pascale Bar & Grill received its first hat at the annual Good Food Guide Awards 2018. The award follows the appointment of executive chef Andy Harmer and a new culinary direction for the signature bar & grill, which only opened in late 2016.

The Star Sydney and Gold Coast have taken out multiple awards, including chef’s hats and the country’s top service award.

Momofuku Seiōbo scored three hats, positioning the restaurant as one of the best in Australia. Also contributing to Momofuku Seiōbo’s success is general manager Kylie Javier Ashton, who was named the winner of the national Service Excellence Award.

Momofuku Seiōbo executive chef Paul Carmichael said they happy and honoured “to be in the conversation of Australia’s best restaurants”.

“Kylie is the best and as her biggest fan, I am so happy for her. So well deserved,” he said.

Sokyo at The Star Sydney has again been recognised with one hat, marking the fifth time the restaurant has been awarded a chef’s hat.

Kiyomi, Sokyo’s sister restaurant at The Star Gold Coast, has also retained its chef’s hat for the third year in a row.

Chase Kojima, executive chef of both Sokyo and Kiyomi restaurants, says the team’s ethos of constantly challenging themselves with an imaginative take on Japanese flavours is a key reason both restaurants have retained their status.

“My teams at Sokyo and Kiyomi have worked so hard and it’s to them we owe this honour,” he said.
