New 245-room Hilton set for Western Sydney

Hilton Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans for a new build 27-storey hotel in the heart of Parramatta’s CBD.

The 245-room hotel would also feature a ballroom and sky lounge, in addition to an onsite hotel training college.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Labor councillor Pierre Esber said he was excited that a major international hotel chain wanted to be in Parramatta.

“A five star hotel, a chain they serve up good hotels all over the world and to have one here in Parramatta is fantastic,” he said. “This came to council earlier this year, the applicants have worked with us and have kept us in the loop and this is the first time that I’ve seen anything like this coming to Parramatta.

“We’ve got plenty of motels, but you can’t get a hotel from Sunday to Thursday. This builds to the confidence in the city and confidence in the chamber.”

Western Sydney Business Chamber director David Borger also welcomed the news.

“I think we’ve really arrived as a city when we have brands like Hilton considering business here,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

“It used to be that if a city had a cathedral they’re doing well, but now it’s about getting Apple or Hilton.”
