Inner Sydney pub begins a new chapter

The Duke of Edinburgh in Enmore is embarking on a new chapter following its acquisition by a partnership headed by James Wirth.

Wirth has partnered with Joel Amos from Drinks Group, Mike Delany (fellow founder of Drink n Dine along with Wirth), and Chris Deadman, licensee from the old group’s Abercrombie Hotel and Oxford Tavern.

For the past six years it has been operated by Mick Roche, who listed the leasehold interest last year.

The Duke’s trade is boosted by being next door to the Enmore Theatre, offering punters a contracted pub-style menu and selection of mainstream and craft beers, in addition to a gaming room at the front of the pub.

The partners plan to activate an approved DA to move the gaming room to the side of the building to open up more space in the front bar and facilitate a proper smoking solution for the EGM area.

Wirth says they will bring a natural wine, craft beer, pub food and late nights vibe to the new look pub when it reopens in December, alongside a new food offering driven by chef Toby Wilson.
