Mount Kembla Village Hotel goes on the market

The historic Mount Kembla Village Hotel has been listed for sale.

Established in 1898, the heritage-listed venue was described as "an iconic hotel within the Wollongong region" by licencee Daine Blackburn.

Speaking to the Illawarra Mercury, Daine said it was “a good little pub".

"It's an Aussie pub, and there's not many pubs left that have retained the heritage and the old-world charm that this one has," he said.

"We've done a lot of work on it over the past 11 years. This is the second time we've restored the hotel.

"We gave it a fresh coat of paint, a new roof, it's got a beer garden, covered courtyard, and everything in the upstairs residence has been fully restored, all in keeping with the heritage of the building."

After purchasing the pub in 2009, Daine said it was "just our time to move on".

"We've been here for 11 years, and as a family we're in a position where we've built the hotel up to what it is today," he said.

"It's been fully restored and managed by us, and we'd like to be in a position to move on to other things."

The selling agents are Knight Frank's Mike Wheatley and Kate MacDonald.
