Pub bans regular for a month after telling a female bartender 'nice to see you are in shorts'

A pub in Adelaide has banned a regular patron for a month after he told a female member of staff 'nice to see you in shorts' on a 42C day.

Screenwriter Leonard Lee, 72, was picking up a bottle of wine from pub from the Royal Oak in north Adelaide when he made the comment. However, the staff member complained.

Speaking to The Advertiser Lee claimed “the comment didn't mean anything”.

“She went a bit huffy and said ‘well it's hot’,” he said.

When he returned the next day he had a verbal confrontation with the woman which ended with her throwing his credit card back into his car.

After a meeting with pub management he was told he was banned for a month for “offensive behaviour towards a staff member”.

“I was seriously flabbergasted,” Lee said. “I don't like sleazebags, I don't like drunks abusing staff and I do not indulge in conversations which objectify women - but the world has gone mad.”
