Subiaco’s Vic Hotel goes on the market as fierce beer wars continue
Subiaco’s Vic Hotel has been put up for sale only a year after dropping its price for a pint of beer down to $3.50 in a bitter beer war with rivals.
The cheap beer was put in place last year to counter the effects of The Village Bar in Subiaco offering $4 pints, in what was described as Perth’s ‘beer wars’.
At the time, Vic Hotel co-owner Bevan Marwick said the cheap beers had boosted the average Sunday crowd up to as much as 500. But the for sale sign at the 121-year-old venue has put a question mark over the long-term effectiveness of the price war.
CBRE’s Chloe Mason said the pub could fetch as much as $8 million.
