Darwin pub in underpayment scandal up for lease

Darwin pub Rorkes is up for lease nearly two months after its owner was accused of racism and underpaying staff.

In January it was alleged that owner Mitchell McNamee instructed staff not to serve Aboriginal customers, a claim he denied.

However, the pub now has a ‘for lease’ sign out front belonging to commercial real estate firm Colliers International, who describe it as “one of Darwin’s most exclusive entertainment venues”.

The sales pitch describes the venue as a “superb bar and entertainment facility fitted out to a 5-Star standard” offering “bar, restaurant, nightclub and gaming facilities positioned in Darwin City”.
