Peter Rowland bounces back as it expands in Sydney

Catering company Peter Rowland is rebuilding itself after a calamitous collapse in 2017 that saw 81-year-old founder Peter Rowland selling his $8.6 million Toorak mansion to pay creditors after the business floundered under a mountain of debt.

After a restructure and financial backing from Melbourne billionaire Mohan Du, the newly restructured and renamed Peter Rowland Group has now begun the process of expanding its catering business beyond Victoria’s borders to NSW.

With the company on track to launch in Sydney from April, Peter Rowland Group CEO Emma Yee said the group is also looking to roll out in more capital cities across Australia.

“The national roll-out will commence in Sydney where we have held a number of commercial contracts since 2013,” she said.

“Now, the acquisition of a Sydney-based catering company enables us to solidify our business in Sydney with a fully functional commercial kitchen and a set-to-go workforce.”

Rowland, who is now chairman, said it gave him a great sense of pride to see to the business launch across Australia.

“We are very pleased that we will be able to be a major employer nationally and have the opportunity to deliver some of the country’s best events,” he said.
