Sydney CBD café damaged by stolen truck
A Sydney CBD café is trading as normal despite incurring damage to its frontage after a truck crashed through the front windows overnight.
Regiment cafe on George Street was damaged by a three-tonne truck just after 2am this morning. The truck was allegedly stolen from the light rail construction works site before being driven into the café.
A 33-year-old from Queenscliff was caught by nearby workers attempting to drive away and has been arrested by police. No-one was injured in the incident.
Found to have a positive blood alcohol concentration (BAC), the man has been charged with driving recklessly and in a dangerous manner, driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period, taking and driving a vehicle without consent of its owner and driving with a low-range BAC. He is facing court today.
