Normanby Hotel to get a refurb following a change of lease

The Normanby Hotel in Red Hill will close for several months to undergo a refurbishment after the lease changed hands.

The Pelathon Management Group have entered a two-year lease on the historic hotel with the option to buy the freehold after three years.

“It’s iconic pub and one of the biggest in Brisbane and we think it just needs some love and attention,” Pelathon Management Group spokesman Jaz Mooney told The Courier Mail.

Built in 1889, The Normanby has been on the market for more than a year with a reported asking price of $18 million. It is unknown how much the lease for the site was purchased for.

The hotel will serve its last beer on Sunday before shutting its door temporarily.
