Mary’s Newtown offers vegans expanded menu at new Circular Quay venue
Newtown’s well known burger venue Mary’s has opened a street-level burger bar in Circular Quay in the site of the former live music venue The Basement.
The new venue offers a full vegan menu alongside its usual animal protein offerings of burgers and fried chicken. The vegan menu is prepared and cooked in a separate area that features “veg only” grills, fryers and cool rooms.
Fried cauliflower will be an alternative to its fried chicken and a specially designed vegan patty and cheese will mirror its Mary’s burger.
“This ain’t Mary’s Health Food and Salad Bar — it’s f**king delicious plant-based food, designed to make your carnivorous mates jealous,” co-founder Jake Smyth told the Daily Telegraph.
A new downstairs space, Mary’s Underground, is slated to be finished by the end of May, and will include a band room, stage, bar and restaurant including a new French rotisserie.
