Andrew McConnell to snaps up Melbourne CBD site for new venue
Melbourne chef Andrew McConnell has signed a seven-year lease on a site in Russell Street as he prepares for his next venture.
The new restaurant would join the restaurant group’s Cutler & Co, Cumulus Inc, Builders Arms Hotel and Supernormal.
McConnell says he has no immediate plans for the 384sqm ground-floor space in Cavendish House, which he described as “a truly impressive and historic site and one of Melbourne's most beautiful rooms”.
“Opportunities like this are a rare find and when they come along it is really exciting,” he said. “The room deserves to be celebrated.”
Colliers International’s Stephanie Harding facilitated the deal, saying the precinct had become a hospitality hotspot.
“We are working with a growing number of landlords and tenants to re-purpose sites for food and beverage use to open up opportunities given the limited availability of existing hospitality space,” she said.
