Oaks Hotels picks Toowoomba for next opening

Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites has announced plans to open a 102-suite hotel in Toowoomba.

Slated to open mid-2020, Oaks Toowoomba Hotel will be a nine-story, new-build development occupying the former Gladstone Hotel site on Kwong Sang Walk.

Just 90 minutes west of Queensland’s capital of Brisbane, Toowoomba is a major hub for health, agriculture, manufacturing, industry and education.

“Oaks Toowoomba Hotel marks our debut in Toowoomba and we are delighted to bring our brand to Queensland’s largest inland city,” said Craig Hooley, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels – Australia & New Zealand.

“We currently operate over 20 properties across the state and this new-build development will complement our growing Queensland network.

“We identified Toowoomba as an attractive expansion opportunity, lending to a number of major infrastructure projects currently underway in the region, including the Wellcamp Airport, Second Range Crossing Project, and Inland Rail Project.

“This significant infrastructure investment, paired with ongoing growth across various industries, represents great confidence in the region’s economy, and an appetite for additional accommodation options.”

Oaks Toowoomba Hotel will also offer a selection of retail operators on ground floor, as well as a tavern, café, conference and event facilities, gymnasium and lap pool.
