Chase Kojima resigns from Gojima Group in ‘painful’ decision

Chase Kojima has resigned from his role as director of operations with Gojima Group, which has two venues in The Star Sydney and Market City in Haymarket.

Describing the decision as “very painful and difficult”, Kojima said in a post on Instagram that opening Gojima had been “one of the most fulfilling moments of my life.”

“I have learned so much in the sense of being a restaurateur. I would like to thank everyone for their tremendous support and for coming to try my creation. It has also been my pleasure working with the Gojima Group, thank you all for the hard work you put in. I wish you all the success,” the post stated.

The menus at the Gojima venues feature rice burgers, sushi burgers and fried chicken.

Kojima will continue to work closely with The Star on existing venues Sokyo, Kiyomi, and Chuuka, a collaboration between Kojima and Lee Ho Fook chef Victor Liong, which opened in the former Flying Fish site on 3 July.
