Doyalson-Wyee RSL set to become “its own city”

Massive expansion plans for Doylo RSL are now one step closer, with the Central Coast Council signing off on a planning proposal to rezone the site.

The new site would include housing, childcare and medical facilities, a revamped RSL, hotel more recreational facilities including a go-karting track and paintball and would effectively become its own city.

The revamp is a 20-year expansion, but Council Administrator Rik Hart did note that this was a planning proposal at this stage and not a development application (DA).

“That planning proposal, now that it is signed off by the council, goes to the State Government,” he said.

“If that goes through, the Doylo can start the DA process with final details. That will give the community another chance to look at things before it goes to the local planning panel.”

Further inclusions in the redevelopment of the 45 hectare site would include low density residential dwellings, seniors housing, medical facilities, childcare centre, service station, food outlets, and hotel accommodation.

The planning proposal would see the relocation and expansion of Doyalson-Wyee RSL Club and gym.

There are some concerns over increased traffic, noise impacts from housing, childcare and go-karting facilities. A loss of sporting fields and open space is also being sounded out.

The redevelopment is expected to create more than 900 jobs.
