Luxe Hong-Kong restaurant chain to open first Sydney venue

Hong Kong-born restaurant chain Mott 32 is expanding internationally with plans to open a restaurant in Sydney.

Two companies have been registered with ASIC: Mott 32 Sydney Pty Ltd and Mott 32 Holdings.

Since opening its doors in 2014, Mott 32 has received numerous awards for its interior design, gaining a reputation for its lush interiors as well as fine food.

It is rumoured to spend between $5 million and $7 million on each fit out.

Maximal Concepts, Mott 32's parent company, has been opening restaurants in Vancouver, Singapore and Las Vegas with plans to open in Dubai and Cebu in the Philippines next.

While the company’s Sydney team unavailable for comment, Good Food did manage to track down Lotus Dining founder Michael Jiang who is said be involved with Mott.

"One of the founders [of Mott 32] is a close friend of mine," Jiang , who recently toured the latest Mott 32 in Dubai, says.

A prospective site has been found in Clarence Street, Sydney, but this is proving a challenge to lock down.

Jiang said if the right location is found, he'll enter a joint venture on the restaurant.
