8 arrested after brawl at Blacktown Tavern
Eight people have been arrested after a wild brawl outside a popular Western Sydney pub.
The Blacktown Tavern was the scene of a bloody fistfight and a stabbing as a group of young men looked to cause havoc.
The violence was captured on CCTV just after 1.24am on February 17. Blood stained the footpath and people were bashed with furniture as terrified patrons watched the horror unfold.
Police charged eight people including a man who used his man-bag to repeatedly bashing a number of the other brawlers.
One man slipped on his own blood and came close to losing consciousness as he took blows to the face from the base of a table and a chair.
Another man retreated after the back of his head was severely wounded.
The carnage lasted for about five minutes, with pub security powerless to stop the fighting.
Amanaki Uasi, who suffered stab wounds to the chest and abdomen, pleaded guilty to one count of affray, but avoided jail after being sentenced to a 12-month conditional release order in Blacktown Local Court on July 30.
Uasi’s lawyer, Paul McGirr, told the court his client had been acting in self defence.
“My client wasn’t there to cause trouble and was enjoying a drink with friends.
“The court accepted that my client was defending others and himself before he was stabbed.”
According to NSW Police eight people aged between 16 and 46 were charged with affray, while three were also charged with malicious damage.
A 17-year-old was charged with malicious damage and carrying a knife and a 16-year-old was also charged with malicious damage.
A 31-year-old will face the court on September 27.
