The Boathouse Group has put forward plans for a $33 million, three-restaurant complex with outdoor dining areas on Sydney’s northern beaches.

The Group intends to add to its 12 outlets that span from the Central Coast to Wollongong and is looking open three more eateries to be named “The Farmhouse, Terrey Hills”.

The new development would be a remarkable comeback for the group which, just four years ago and under previous owners, almost collapsed owing more than $21 million to hundreds of creditors.

Behind the comeback is North Shore brothers Ben and Jono Isaac.

The brothers have built a small empire with cafes and restaurants including Manly Pavilion, Barrenjoey House, Mona Social, The Boathouse Shelly Beach and The Boathouse Hotel Patonga.

For their latest venture, they spent $9.8 million on an undeveloped 1.6ha site on Myoora Rd. According to documents lodged to Northern Beaches Council on October 18, the complex will be made up of a “series of low-scale ‘farm-style’ restaurant pavilions set within a landscaped open space”.

“(It) will serve the community and support the vitality of Terrey Hills by providing a new venue for the community to enjoy,” according to the Statement of Environmental Effects.

The precinct will also include a basement car park for 156 vehicles, a children’s play area, pergolas and a stage as well as large lawn area.

It would open from 7am-12am, seven days a week and have room for a maximum 794 patrons.

The three restaurants would offer completely different experiences.

Restaurant 1 is designed to offer a casual dining experience, featuring a pitched roof that evokes the style of a rural Australian shed.

Restaurant 2, as the central dining venue, will serve as the primary food and beverage offering on the site. It aims to provide a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor dining options.

The outdoor terrace will be a sheltered space with landscaped pergolas, and it will include a small stage for live music performances, running from midday to 10 p.m.

Restaurant 3 will offer a fine-dining experience.

According to chief executive Antony Jones, the restaurants fit into Boathouse Group’s ethos of “a premium offering in a casual setting”.

The plans will be open to the public for three weeks, from October 28.
