Jade Monkey heritage listing revoked

The former Jade Monkey live music venue in Adelaide has been removed from the heritage register, clearing the way for a $65 million hotel development in the city.

The 147-year-old building in Twin Street was provisionally listed last month, in a last-ditch effort to avert demolition.

It closed as a live venue after its lease expired recently.

The South Australian Government said an independent heritage assessment found the site failed to satisfy criteria for the heritage register.
