Solotel's Bank open for business

Sydney pub group Solotel has announced the completion of its comprehensive renovation of one of Newtown's best-loved pubs, The Bank.

Having bought the venue in September last year, Solotel has vied to create a venue "to satisfy many tastes and [be] suitable for all occasions".

Offering casual dining and one of Newtown's few sun-drenched beer gardens, fare includes specialities such as king crab sandwiches and duck sausage rolls, share plates and pizzas.

At the bar patrons are tempted with beer from local brewery Young Henrys and cocktails designed by cocktail connoisseur, author and acclaimed barmen, Jeremy Shipley.

Upstairs at The Bank now features an environment of low booths, dark wood, skulls and crocodile skin to entice the eclectic local demographic, and the all-hours balcony boasts a view of King Street.

The Bank's refurbishment follows recent investment in Newtown venues by fellow pub groups Riversdale and Keystone along with many small bar operators.
