QT Sydney partners with Museum of Contemporary Art

Room number at QT Sydney
With a strong focus on art and design, QT Sydney has already redefined the role art can play within hotels and is now taking its commitment one step further by partnering with the Australian Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA).
QT Sydney’s art-laden interior has cemented its reputation amongst creatives and art aficionados, and now with its appointment as an official partner of the iconic museum, the hotel is further marrying hospitality and art.

Hotel guests will have access to one-off events including private tours and viewings of upcoming exhibitions and also receive the inside run on gallery news via the hotel’s blog. QT Sydney will also collaborate with the museum on a series of special events to be announced throughout 2014.

The hotel is currently displaying works by several local artists in both the rooms and public spaces, many of which are also exhibited at MCA. Showcasing a revolving series of art installations, the hotel lobby houses striking heritage display cabinets, and is now set to bring a taste of the museum to the heart of the central business district with a future exhibit to be announced. Both QT Sydney and MCA are at the forefront of their industries in art and design which makes the collaboration a perfect union.

The 200-room hotel is set within two of the city’s most iconic buildings – the historic Gowings Department Store and heritage-listed State Theatre. While the facades have been restored to their former glory, inside is a stunning mix of original features, curated art installations, eclectic artefacts and quirky design pieces inspired by the retail and theatre history of the buildings. Dramatic LED art walls are framed by restored art deco and baroque details, next to show-stopping spotlights and ornate gilt display cases throughout the hotel.

Rates from 295 AUD.
