Innovative direction ahead as Pier One Sydney Harbour welcomes new General Manager, Kim Mahaffy

Pier One Sydney Harbour is delighted to announce the appointment of Kim Mahaffy to the position of General Manager of Autograph Collections’ inaugural Australian property. Kim’s vast experience across Australia and South East Asia, most recently in Hong Kong, brings to Pier One Sydney Harbour a solid international foundation of hotel knowledge and global understanding of guest expectations at a luxury level.

Known and respected within the Marriott International Group, Kim has a reputation for creating unique guest experiences, inspiring her staff to constantly improve and refresh the entire guest interaction and finesse the details. Her vivacious nature, affectionate perspective and unique female outlook is the right fit to lead Pier One into the next stage. Her global experience with JW Marriott, Renaissance and Autograph Hotel properties have brought her back to Australia to lead the hotel team though the new brand transition and upcoming refurbishment.

“As Coco Chanel so succinctly put it – with four pairs of shoes I can travel the world – and I could not be more delighted that it’s lead me back to Sydney.

Pier One, with its rich history, is a hotel like no other on Sydney Harbour with an instant connection to the water as soon as you walk through the lobby. Right in the heart of the CBD but with the feeling that the hustle and bustle is miles away. The incredible suite upgrades last year heralded changes at the property and I am delighted to be stepping into the leadership role to bring the Autograph Hotels brand to life.

With every decision we respect Pier One’s historical core and loyal luxury customer base, so our priority moving forward is to increase visibility of the Autograph Hotels brand. Through innovative food and beverage concepts in line with international market demand, matched effortlessly with impeccable service for which we are known globally, and crafted artesian cultural opportunities in Sydney, we can offer our guests an individual hotel experience.

Sydney is arguably one of the leading global destinations so the upcoming reception, lobby, restaurant and outdoor pier space refurbishment scheduled to be done over coming months will solidify a more seamless check-in procedure, world class dining and accommodation options with the added benefit of integrating the unique waterfront vantage the property offers” says Mahaffy.
