Cockroaches in the kitchen top the list of a number of food safety violations at one of the Gold Coast's most glamorous restaurants.

Food safety inspectors from the local Council found roaches in a dry goods storage area and near the pizza ovens at Saks Restaurant on Main Beach, the Courier Mail reports.

The officials also discovered open containers carrying raw seafood, dirt, mould and built-up grease during a September 25 inspection.

The restaurant's owner Saks Investments Pty Ltd was issued with a breach notice and pleaded guilty.

The company is expected to receive a large fine at sentencing in the Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Saks Restaurant was cleared of any further breaches at a subsequent "follow-up inspection".
