A WOMAN has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm after allegedly throwing hot tea in the face of a co-worker at UTS on Wednesday.

The 53-year-old woman was arrested at the Ultimo campus about 4pm.

A 26-year-old woman was taken to Sydney Eye Hospital where she was treated for burns to her face and damage to one of her eyes.

Police said an argument occurred between several staff members of a cafe inside the campus on Harris St.

A UTS spokesman acknowledged the incident but said the cafe is not operated by the university.

“UTS was very concerned to learn of the incident, which occurred in a food outlet owned and operated by a third party, and is cooperating with NSW Police,” the spokesman said.

The 53-year-old was granted bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on November 12.
