The former Boho Bar, rebranded as The Unley, has undergone a five-month upgrade — but the cost of the works hasn’t been revealed.

Hotel spokeswoman Alice Hemming said the rooftop vision spurred a decision to renovate the lower levels of the Unley Rd hotel also.

The venue aims to provide the feel of a city nightspot in the suburbs, she said.

“The inspiration behind the design was to create an atmosphere and vibe that was in line with the addition of a crisp, clean and open rooftop space,” Ms Hemming says.

Patron Sophie Clark, of Thebarton, describes the venue’s facelift as “glamorous”, tipping it will become a popular destination.

“It has such a great, awesome feel in a suburban location which is great for people who are not keen on going all the way into the city,” she says.

“Even in the winter months, it’ll be great because the outdoor area is really cosy.”

The venue’s menu has also been overhauled to include a range of options from sliders to pub classics, vegan dishes and “ambitious mains” such as kangaroo tenderloin.

Head chef Callum Stewart-Watt says the fresh offerings give “new meaning to the pub grub”.

“If you’re looking for something bigger, the signature Unley Coorong Angus beef burger … or any of the delectable gourmet flat bread pizzas are a perfect choice,” he says.

And if you want to watch the kitchen staff at work you can do that, too, with a six-seat table positioned to take in all the action.
