Police are appealing to anyone with information about a break and enter at a licensed premises in South Tamworth in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Just before 4:00am cleaners at the pub were interrupted by two unarmed men.

Inspector Kylie Endemi from Oxley Local Area Command said one of the cleaners was hurt during the incident.

"They obviously were attempting to steal the stock from within the hotel and were observed by the cleaners and then one of the cleaners has tried to apprehend them and that's how the struggle has taken place," she said.

"The cleaners of the hotel were conducting their early morning business when they were confronted by two offenders who had broken into the hotel and were in the process of trying to steal some of the stock."

Police have released a description of two men they'd like to speak to.

They're both described as being of Caucasian appearance, one of thin build and the other medium build.

Both were wearing a green top, black pants and white shoes.

Any witnesses are being asked to come forward.
