Tassie scores top honours in Gourmet Traveller Australian Hotel Awards

TASMANIA’S luxury hotels have been recognised as the best in the country, with the new Pumphouse Point and boutique Mona Pavilions picking up gongs at Gourmet Traveller Australian Hotel Awards in Sydney last night.

Recently opened on Lake St Clair, Pumphouse Point won Regional Hotel of the Year while Mona Pavilions received the Best Mini Bar award.

The Langham Sydney was the big winner, picking up three of the 12 awards — New Hotel of the Year, Best Club Sandwich, and the coveted Hotel of the Year.

The awards are the only national hotel accolades compiled by reviewers from one of Australia’s most authoritative travel magazine.

“Big congratulations to the team at The Langham Sydney. Fresh from a $30 million makeover, they have created a new luxury hotel experience that is as alluring as it is assured,” said editor Anthea Loucas.

The awards, hosted by Catriona Rowntree and attended by Australia’s leading and travel industry experts, recognise the cornerstone experiences of any great hotel stay, from the best service to the best breakfast.

The Gourmet Traveller reviewers traversed the country from Darwin to Hobart in the quest to find Australia’s best stays.

All visits were anonymous and the magazine paid its own way.
