Fire at China Bar restaurant in Melbourne's CBD causes $250,000 damage

A fire in the China Bar restaurant in Melbourne's CBD has caused $250,000 worth of damage.

Up to 14 Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) crews were called to the restaurant at the intersection of Russell and Lonsdale streets about 5:30pm on Monday.

The fire spread from the flue in the kitchen to the ceiling and sub floor space, according to the MFB.

The fire tookabout two hours to control.

"Anyone located in adjoining buildings that are affected by smoke should ensure all exterior doors, windows and vents are closed and that heating and cooling systems are turned off," the MFB advised.
