Theives ransack Sydney Pub

Two men have ransacked a western Sydney pub, but fled empty-handed after being unable to open the cash registers.

Police say the men used a metal pole to break a window at a pub on Maxwell Street in South Penrith early on Monday.

The pair forced a group of contractors who were laying carpet in the building into a hallway while they ransacked the pub and attempted to open cash registers.

None of the contractors were injured.
