Host of Restaurant Revolution announced

The new host of Restaurant Revolution may not be a big name but, when it comes to the subject matter, he certainly knows his stuff.

Host of Restaurant Revolution announced

Adelaide-based chef Jock Zonfrillo will today be announced as the presenter of the upcoming Seven cooking show, which will see five teams from around the country design and run their own pop-up restaurant.

Although it was previously speculated that the network would recruit a celebrity for hosting duties, choosing the less-known Zonfrillo for the role makes sense.

He opened his first solo restaurant ventures, Orana and the more informal Street-ADL, just two years ago and turned them into roaring successes.

The Glasgow native, who has 23 years’ experience in the business, worked with Michelin-starred chefs Marco Pierre White and David Cavalier before arriving in Australia in 2000.

Zonfrillo says he understands what the contestants on the show will go through.

“Words can’t describe the physical labour and mental pressure our teams will go through over the next few weeks — it’s intense,” the 38-year-old said.

“There’s never a right time to open a restaurant because you can never be ready enough.”

Perth’s Restaurant Revolution pop-up is already in construction in Leederville and teasers were released this week showing a first glimpse of the female duo representing WA.

An air date for the show has not yet been announced.
