Coast chef stars in ad campaign

A PROMINENT Sunshine Coast chef is the star of a new TV advertising campaign for Origin LPG.

Tom Swapp, executive chef of The Spirit House, is one of five chefs from regional restaurants who feature in the campaign.

The commercial showcases inspirational winter recipes using fresh, regional produce and highlight the benefits of cooking with gas during the colder months.

Airing throughout winter across the Sunshine Coast and other regions, the commercial starring Mr Swapp also extols fresh seafood sourced straight from the Sunshine Coast, which he then uses to create an Asiatic dish of whole steamed fish with black beans, chilli and ginger.

As one of the destination restaurants on the Sunshine Coast, the Thai-inspired restaurant endeavours to recreate the flavours of the East with the freshest produce, grown on the Coast.

By steaming the fish and using freshly cut ginger, Mr Swapp's recipe showcases one of many ways gas can be used to create a delicious meal this winter.

He said being involved in the Origin LPG campaign had been a great experience.

"The Sunshine Coast has a climate extremely similar to Thailand, with its volcanic soil, high rainfall and humidity, which in turn makes produce here vibrantly fresh," he said.

Four other regional restaurants feature in the campaign, including The Fig Tree in Byron Bay and Bel Cibo in Port Douglas.
