Frogmore Creek rated top regional eatery in Australian Hotels Association annual awards
TASMANIAN hospitality venues continue to shine on the national stage, picking up five awards at the Australian Hotels Association annual awards.
Venues from Cambridge to Smithton have been recognised with the state laying claim to the country’s best mid-range and deluxe accommodation.
Frogmore Creek winery at Cambridge picked up the gong for best regional restaurant — a nod to head chef Ruben Koopman, who joined from a Michelin-starred restaurant in Europe two years ago.
THA general manager Steve Old congratulated the winners on being the best in Australia in their chosen category.
“For Tasmania to win five of the categories just goes to show how well the industry and operators are competing and the level of quality they provide,’’ he said.
“I particularly would like to congratulate our five winners — Saffire, Frogmore Creek, Country Club Tasmania, Quality Hotel Gateway and Tall Timbers.
“For Tasmania to claim to have the Best Mid-Range and Deluxe Accommodation in the country is a wonderful accolade.
“To also have the Best Regional Restaurant goes to show the quality of food and operators we have in our state.”
