Celebrity chef Matt Moran becomes Accor, and CommBank stadium ambassador
Following Merivale’s move into Sydney’s sports stadiums as hospitality partner to the Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium, chef Matt Moran is throwing his hat into Accor and Commbank Stadiums.
Moran, who owns Aria, Chiswick and North Bondi Fish, will now dish up the food at the NRL Grand Final on 2 October.
Members and corporate diners will first feats on Moran’s creations, before he sets his sights on the general public.
Over 8000 attendees at the NRL Grand Final will sample Moran’s famed lamb-shoulder as well as a tender chargrilled harissa Bannockburn chicken.
“People’s expectations keep raising the bar for what they expect at an event. They what the complete package. You can see if with what the other guys are doing at the stadiums. Food isn’t a by-product anymore. We want people to stay at the stadiums,” Moran said.
“Gone are the days when you put up with a cold meat pie at the footy.”
It doesn’t end there for Moran and his sporting ambitions. He is also a partner with the Solotel hospitality group, which is said to have tendered for the hospitality partnership for the Sydney Football Stadium and Sydney Cricket Ground.
“My restaurants will always be number one and if someone took them away from me, I will be devastated but I really enjoy the diversity of what I’m doing.”
CEO Daryl Kerry who oversees both stadia says itys the patrons who will be the big winners.
“Matt Moran is an Australian food icon who has a real passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences and we believe he can help us achieve a new level of in-stadium food offerings while showcasing the best of NSW produce,” Kerry said.
Moran has also turned his attention to major concerts including that of Sheeran and Harry Styles.
