The Stirling Hotel is SA’s best metro pub

The Australian Hotels Association has held its annual AHA/SA Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence.

The ceremony was held on Tuesday 18 October at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre and had 900 people in attendance.

The big winners were the Stirling Hotel, which took out the coveted Best Overall Hotel – Metropolitan.

The Adelaide Hills venue is considered a destination pub and was recognised for its high standards in dining, retail and service as well as its commitment to innovation.

The awards are the state’s most prestigious and this year broadened its horizons, with AHA/SA general manager Ian Horne saying, “This year the lens was widened for the first time to honour the Best Overall Hotel in 3 categories – metropolitan, regional and accommodation.”

The Loxton Hotel was another big winner, taking out Best Overall Hotel – Country. The recently redeveloped historic, community-owned hotel on the Murray River was also given the nod for Best Bar Presentation and Experience – Country and Best Redeveloped Hotel – Country.

The redevelopment featured a new sports bar, dining and accommodation offerings.

Other winners included the Watervale Hotel, taking the inaugural WT Spurr AO Award for Tourism & Regional Promotion and the honours for Best Restaurant – General Division Country for the third year in a row.

The metropolitan award for Adelaide’s Best Restaurant went to 2KW, which has also won the award three times consecutively.

Eos by SkyCity is Adelaide’s Best Overall Hotel – Accommodation Division and Best Deluxe Hotel Accommodation. It also took out Best Outdoor non-enclosed Facility – Metropolitan in conjunction with 2KW.

“South Australia can rightly claim to have some of the best establishments in the nation, from city to country, from the local pub to the luxury 5-Star hotel, and despite a challenging few years, South Australian hotels are continuing to raise the bar in terms of innovation, presentation and service,” Horne said.

“We are immensely proud to be representing this incredible industry.”
