Luke Mangan’s exclusive Sydney Harbour restaurant already booked out for months

Luke Mangan’s new restaurant Luke’s Table is already making a splash.

The celebrity chef’s latest venture, which has a view from inside the Sydney Harbour Bridge, put on four months of bookings within 24 hours of opening.

Luke’s table is an exclusive $295-a-head restaurant on the Sydney Harbour Bridge’s South East Pylon public viewing platform.

“It sold out within the hour. It’s been hugely successful and I put that down to people wanting a different experience,” Mangan told Confidential.

“It still hasn’t properly sunk in yet.”

The Pylon lookout closes at 4pm, but once that happens Mangan’s team kicks into gear, climbs to the top of the harbour icon and breaks out the induction ovens.

Dining starts at 6.30pm.

“It’s challenging, but we’re all fit, young, and getting fitter every time we go up there,” Mangan said.

Three hours later the experience ends and the equipment is packed away.

The pylon is almost 100 years old and has a 360-degree viewing platform. The idea to dine there was two years of discussion between Mangan and BridgeClimb and was designed to produce a post lockdown experience that would bring people back to the city.

“At the moment, we’re opening three days a week. In the New Year, we’ll have to look at expanding our meal periods,” Mangan said.
