Gold Coast to entertain Australia’s first St Regis hotel

The first St. Regis hotel in Australia will soon make its debut on the Gold Coast after a deal was struck between Marriott International and property developer Gurner.

The hotel will have three towers and will be located in the high-end Budds Beach precinct.

The luxury $1.7 billion La Pelago resort-style project is planned to open in 2025.

There will be approximately 185 rooms and suites with ocean and hinterland views. A highlight will be the bespoke butler service.

Marriott has been busy in Australia over the last few months, having last month announced a Ritz Carlton hotel will open on the Gold Coast in 2026.

The chain is looking to cash in on the Olympic Games, which will be held on the Gold Coast in 2032.

Several hotel chains will build new hotels on the Gold Coast in the lead up to the Olympics including the Langham Hospitality Group, which unveiled its own luxury hotel between Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.

Marriott International vice-president, hotel development, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Richard Crawford said, “This signing of The St. Regis Gold Coast Resort in Australia is momentous for Marriott International, and a wonderful advancement for the destination.

“The St. Regis brand promises a vanguard spirit steeped in history and tradition and is synonymous with global luxury.”

Crawford said Gurner is set to deliver a top project.

“(Gurner’s) well-earned reputation for excellence and vision for the Gold Coast aligns exceptionally well with the very high standards we set for every St. Regis hotel around the world and we look forward to bringing to life an iteration of the brand that is modern, aspirational and befits the lifestyle and energy of the Gold Coast,” he said.

The La Pelago project will feature luxury residential homes and more than 5500sq m of international hospitality and retail space.

The hotel will be highlighted by a specialty restaurant, a world-class sky bar, pool bar, lounge, and spa, along with a luxurious penthouse collection.

“We think the addition of such an illustrious and exclusive hotel brand will put the Gold Coast right back on the top of luxury travellers’ lists, and make it one of the hottest tourism markets in the world,” Gurner chief executive Tim Gurner said.
