20 new dining and drinking venues touted for upgraded Sydney Place precinct

A new eating and dining precinct beneath Sydney’s tallest office building, will feature 20 new venues.

The Sydney Place precinct will play host to dining venues including Federico Zanellato’s Surry Hills favourite Lode Pies which will be in Rugby Place, a laneway right off Pitt Street.

Morgan McGlone, who is behind Bar Copains, ex-Belles Hot Chicken will open a version of his chicken eatery and Besuto’s Joel Best will open a Japanese-inspired whisky bar and down a “hidden alleyway”.

Patrons will also find a version of Rockdale’s popular sandwich bar Kosta’s, and a noodle bar by Malay Chinese Takeaway.

The restaurants, bars, cafes and shops will be found through a network of laneways below the 55-storey tower.

Notably, Icebergs restrauteur Maurice Terzini was one of the first to be announced for the precinct.

Each laneway in the hub will serve a particular hospitality purpose. For instance Crane Lane will be the place to go for everyday dining and will feature Bobo Dumplings, Toastiesmith, Open Sesame (a Middle-Eastern eatery), Burger Point, Sushi Yuzen, Dopa, C9 Gelato and Yasaka Ramen.

At Rugby Place you’ll find takeaway joints including Sunday, Lode Pies, Malay Chinese Noodle Bar and Kosta’s.

Underwood Street wil host small and intimate spots, including Best’s venue, Kingswood Coffee, The Associate cafe and Thirteen Feet Tattoo. 

The venues will join Jacksons on George, which features a ground-floor pub, a middle-level restaurant and wine bar, and a cocktail bar on the rooftop. 

Sydney CBD  is now rife with new venues after the opening of Quay Quarter Lanes25 Martin PlaceBarrack Place and Darling Square.
