The iconic electronic party pub The Abercrombie set to reopen in December

The famed Abercrombie corner pub will reopen on 23 December in Chippendale, Sydney.

The Ultimo venue has been revived by hospitality group Solotel, which will bring back the dancefloors, electronic music and 24-hour licence.

When the doors open, Abercrombie will host a 36-hour-long celebration that will last from 5pm on the Friday until 5am on Christmas Day morning.

"There's a strong sense of responsibility reopening the Abercrombie given that formative memories of generations of Sydney partiers, including myself, were forged here," Solotel CEO Elliot Solomon said.

"We're ecstatic to welcome back some of the OG club crews like Purple Sneakers. We're also very aware that there's a generation of kids who haven't been able to experience those heady clubbing days in Sydney, for various reasons. This new era for The Abercrombie is focused on helping to redefine the fabric of Sydney's nightlife as well as provide a platform for the next generation of party crews and clubbers to create their own culture-defining experiences."

The Abercrombie will include three mini venues: a main bar and beer garden that will host regular events, tastemakers and party crews from all over the world, while also serving the community in traditional pub fashion with beers and cocktails on tap, pizza by the slice and Italian mains; upstairs is a cocktail lounge and rooftop bar called Casa Rosa, which has a Mediterranean food and DJ flavour; then there is wine bar Lil Sis in the adjoining terraces next to the pub.

The opening weekend will feature major acts such as Astral People DJs, dameeeela, Andy Garvey, Mike Who, Nomad Radio, Pure Space, Lovejoy, Ayebatonye and original regulars of the space back in its previous lifetime, Purple Sneakers DJs.

A big New Year experience is also on the cards with a secret international headliner.
