Pub patron abuse gets worse in Alice Springs

Youth attacks on pubs and pub goers are getting worse in Alice Springs.

One group of youths was filmed attacking pub patrons just days after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited the region to address concerns of escalating violence.

A guest staying above The Diplomat Hotel on Gregory Terrace in the CBD filmed the wild scenes, with footage, which was shared on Facebook, showing a group of Indigenous girls yelling abuse at patrons in the beer garden.

"You ugly, I'm prettier than you with my black skin, you white b***h," one girl said.

Another girl looks to have spat at a man seated at a table. He held the teens at bay by threatening to throw a drink at them.

More footage showed a young male appearing to taunt another patron before a fight broke out between the two and a teen threatening customers with a large tree branch.

The woman show shared the footage, Rachel Hale, wrote, “Kids taunting adults and spitting on ‘white *****’, stealing from cars out the front, very young children on the streets, disgusting violence, pack hunting, and the level of hate displayed towards people in the firing line will haunt me!

“Police struggle to apprehend anyone — they run as soon as they see them. I feel sick to my stomach seeing this and also having to stay here! Not much sleep — one of the most frightening nights of my life. It went on all night long!”

NT police will crack down further on the anti-social behaviour.

“NT Police condemn any form of anti-social behaviour, particularly alcohol related violence, within our community," it said.

"We urge anyone who witnesses crime or anti-social behaviour to make contact on 131 444 or in an emergency 000.

The violence escalated after the PM’s visit, where with Territory Chief Minister Natasha Fyles and other community leaders, it was decided to introduce new alcohol restrictions.

Further restrictions and regulations are also likely to be implemented shortly.

The Federal Government will give more than $48 million to Alice Springs over the next two years, with funds primarily for women and child safety and crime mitigation.
