Former Sydney restaurant owner jailed for six years for drug crimes

Former Sydney restaurateur Adam Sakr has been jailed for a maximum of six years with a minimum non-parole period of three and a half years after being found guilty of drug crimes.

Sakr was part of a large drug syndicate along with army veteran and partner in crime Jesse Robson.

The pair was caught with 17kg of cocaine and 8kg of ice when they were pulled over by police on the M5 Motorway in 2021.

Robson has avoided jail but must serve a three-year intensive correction order.

Sakr’s Sydney restaurant went bust during the pandemic.

The pair was caught in a sting after police pulled over a man in Hay in NSW. The car the man was driving contained 37kg of drugs, including cocaine and ice.

The man told the officers he had received the car’s keys from “Adam”.

Detectives on the case discovered the identity of “Adam” and began surveillance of him, which led them to a property in Kogarah and ultimately to the vehicle with the drugs.

After later searching the Kogarah property, police found a money counter machine, cooking trays, bags with “$100k” written on them, rubber gloves and cleaning products.
