Cocktails for crypto at new Sydney bar

Sydney is now host to Australia’s first NFT (non-fungible token) membership-only bar.

You will find CryptoLulu in Circular Quay, but entry is only available to private members who can only enter via a NFT purchased on the blockchain.

The venue is similar to Soho House in London.

CryptoLulu spokesperson Natalie Hughes said the club merges the technological and physical worlds.

“Not only does CryptoLulu deliver a luxurious ambience with the most prestigious modern Asian fusion cuisine with cocktails inspired by the unique flavours of East Asia, but also a ground breaking membership and rewards program,” she said.

“It incorporates the physical and virtual world in a way that the Australian public has never experienced before and will surely raise the bar on the exclusive club membership experience.”

There are several guest or token tiers available which offer access to networking events, private lounges, dinners at sister venue Luna Lu, drinks and views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

A top tier membership will set you back $5000.

Those who fear crypto is dead and would be reluctant to buy a membership, should fear not according to blockchain expert Mark Monfort, who worked on the technology for the bar.

“The things that have happened in crypto are not because the technology is bad, rather the bad people behind it,” Monfort said.

“Now is a good time to step into this space because the guardrails are being put up with government regulation.”

Meanwhile, Soho House will open its first Australian outpost in Darlinghurst this year.
