Sydney serves up five of the world’s best steak restaurants
Sydney’s steakhouses have been recognises as some of the world’s best, with five making the top 50 list in the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurant Awards for 2023.
The best restaurant is Parrilla Don Julio in Buenos Aires, with Hawksmoor in London runner-up.
The competition runs hot and deep, so Sydney’s achievement is one to savour, with Melbourne also providing two great eateries to the top 50.
Innovation, provenance and experimentation have been some of the key attributes of the country’s best steak restaurants.
Rockpool Bar & Grill continues its reverence, named as the eighth best steakhouse in the world. Cuts come from Australia’s best producers such as David Blackmore, Cape Grim and Coppertree Farms on the menu.
Kingsleys Woolloomooloo was named in position 31; the CBD’s Bistecca holds the 32nd position, while Porteño in Surry Hills grabbed spot 40, and The Gidley on King Street came in at number 43.
Somehow, Sydney’s Firedoor dropped out of the top 100 after being named the third best steak restaurant in 2022.
Melbourne’s Butcher & Vine and Entrecote ranked at 77 and 97 respectively.
