Hotel loses bid to extend bottle shop hours

The Northern Territory Licensing Commission has refused an application by an Alice Springs hotel to extend trading hours for its drive-through bottle shop.

The Gapview Resort Hotel wanted to open at 10am on weekdays during the Masters Games in October.

The current weekday opening time is 2pm.

The commission refused the application on the grounds that extended trading hours undermine the existing takeaway sales restrictions.
