  • Category winner : Fat Free Natural Yoghurt
  • Champion yoghurt : Greek Honey Yoghurt
  • Champion dairy product : Greek Honey Yoghurt.

‘I don’t think yoghurt gets any better than this’, said Russell Smith, Chief Judge for the Dairy Awards.  ‘Mundella Foods certainly produces one of the better yoghurts in Australia’.

Russell is the Chief Dairy and Cheese Judge at the Perth, Brisbane and Sydney Royal Shows as well as judging dairy awards in New Zealand, the USA and the UK. ‘Each time I come to WA for training and demonstrations,I include Mundella Foods products as I consider them to be some of the best on the market’, he said.

Mundella Foods, a family owned business, has been winning awards and accolades for their premium dairy products in the past decade at local and national awards.  Their most recent award was as the sole WA recipient at the 2012 Australian Grand Dairy Awards for their Premium Natural Yoghurt.

Chief Executive Officer of Mundella Foods David Day said that ‘this is the first time that we have been awarded the Champion dairy product.  For our Greek Honey Yoghurt to be triumphant over a very competitive field of cheeses, icecreams, milks and other yoghurts is a fantastic achievement.’

Mundella Foods was established in 1974 by dairy farmers, Peter and Anne Hector who found they had a surplus of milk and hence created a small soft cheese factory to supply local shops.

Mundella Foods then upgraded and extended their operations to include yoghurts, drinking yoghurts and gourmet cheeses, which are now available throughout WA, ranging from large supermarkets chains to specialty boutique retailers, as well as a recent push into Asia.

In another triumph, Mundella Foods’ premium yoghurt has been part of the in-flight menu on Qantas domestic flights since mid-2011.
