Ombudsman to target dodgy hospitality employers

The Fair Work Ombudsman has launched a campaign targeting employers in the hospitality industry.

Hotels, pubs and taverns will be audited to ensure they are paying workers correctly.

Director Craig Bildstein says a previous campaign found 36 per cent of employers were not compliant and recovered $1.6 million for workers.

"We would say there's potentially a young and vulnerable workforce in this sector," he said.

"It's important for us to ensure an improved understanding of compliance to workplace laws and that these workers are receiving their full entitlements."
