Details loom on waterfront hotel plan

The proponent of a plan to build a four-star hotel on the Princess Royal Harbour foreshore says an announcement on the future of the project will be made within the next week.

The Hotel Development Group Albany, which is led by Perth-based hotelier Roger Foster, has been in talks over its plans for a 140-room Mecure Hotel next to the Albany Entertainment Centre.

The group's exclusive negotiating window with the Government expired last month but talks have proceeded since.

Mr Foster, who also owns another Albany hotel, says he cannot provide any details but a joint announcement will be made within seven days.

Meanwhile, LandCorp has confirmed it has reviewed the group's plans but says it is not yet in a position to discuss further details.
